This Is Not Part Of The New American Moment

Part of my frustrations with ongoing discussions about comprehensive immigration reform is the fact that DC power players seemingly think it’s so easy to lump everything together; if we’re going to do something for the undocumented youth of this country, well I guess we have to build a wall! Compromise, right?? Well, no, it shouldn’t have to be that way, with those stipulations. I understand there needing to be an opportunity to work through complicated political matters; that’s how things get done. No one is entirely happy, and I get that. What I don’t get is why my home, the border, seems to lose along the way.
