I Can’t Be Impartial

Harvey Weinstein’s Rape Trial

It’s incredibly weird being in the same room as someone who has dominated so much of the current news cycle for truly awful, disgusting reasons. After not thinking it was possible, this past Wednesday, I sat in the same courtroom as disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose sexual assault and rape trial is currently taking place in New York City. Who knew that reporting for jury duty would somehow mirror the kind of plot lines featured in a Miramax production? I certainly wasn’t expecting it, nor were the hundreds of others under consideration.

Shortly after I was dismissed from jury service late last week, I spoke with Clarissa-Jan Lim at BuzzFeed News about my brief experienceas a potential juror in the case, and how there was no way I could’ve faced that monster for roughly two months.

I also shared with NewNowNext — in detail — what my prospective Weinstein juror experience was like… check it out HERE.
