The Radical Monarchs create opportunities for young girls of color to form fierce sisterhood, celebrate their identities, and contribute radically to their communities.
Seeing a need for a group that would empower and encourage young girls of color to form bonds of sisterhood with other girls in their community, Anayvette Martinez along with Marilyn Hollinquest launched the Radical Monarchs in December 2014!
WE ARE THE RADICAL MONARCHS is a documentary that highlights the Radical Monarchs – an alternative to the Scout movement for girls of color, aged 8-13. Its members earn badges for completing units on social justice including being an LGBTQ ally, the environment, and disability justice. The documentary drops on July 20, 2020, at 9 pm on PBS.
